Long-term sustainable transport and energy efficiency

Logistics and transport companies have been working on transport efficiency for a long time, as measures linked to high resource utilisation tend to have a positive impact on both the economy and the environment.

Several studies show that there is a large amount of unused capacity in the transport sector, while there are shortcomings in statistical data and uncertainties about how much of the theoretical overcapacity can be used in practice. The conditions for achieving high resource utilisation also differ greatly between different transport modes and groups of goods.

The specialisation Long-term sustainable transport and energy efficiency aims to contribute to increased transport and energy efficiency in the freight transport system by developing and evaluating proposals for improvement.
