Linea Kjellsdotter Ivert works as a research leader in freight transport and logistics with a focus on sustainability at the TAL unit at VTI. Her background is in production logistics, and she received her PhD from Chalmers University of Technology in 2012, where Linea examined the use and implementation of planning systems in manufacturing companies. Since then, Linea has broadened her scope, and her research now covers everything from the development of logistics within specific industries such as food, shipping, and construction to more general logistics, including its role in achieving fossil-free systems, circularity, and resilience.

Central to Linea’s research are the actors within the freight transport system. That is, shippers who create transport demand, logistics and transport companies that develop products and services to meet these needs, as well as terminal owners and ports that provide the infrastructure.

Linea is interested in understanding how these actors are affected by technological changes, market trends, and policy instruments. She also explores how these actors can help drive development.

Linea is convinced that the research she is involved in works best in close collaboration with the actors in the freight transport system and together with researchers who have different and complementary expertise. This is also reflected in the projects she participates in.

Linea is involved in several national and international research projects, where she works as a researcher and, in many cases, also as a project leader. She is also an assistant supervisor for three PhD students and is part of the Triple F programme management* team as research leader in logistics, with responsibility for the Triple F doctoral programme.

Future Transport Solutions and New Services in a Circular Economy

The purpose is to develop and evaluate transport solutions and new services for circular flows through collaboration between actors in the transport system and the circular system. The project includes VTI (project leader), RISE, LiU, Ragn-Sells, Port of Norrköping, Ports of Halland, Stena Recycling, Cleantech Östergötland, Händelö Eco-Industrial Park, Logistika, and Port of Oslo.

Fossil-Free Construction Logistics and Fossil-Free Construction Logistics 2.0

Two projects funded by Triple F. The first project aimed to increase knowledge about society’s total construction transport using system analysis as a basis and, based on this, develop a requirements platform for fossil-free construction logistics. 2.0 was a continuation of Fossil-Free Construction Logistics. The project aimed to contribute to creating increased demand for fossil-free construction logistics among both public and private actors through a better understanding of drivers, conditions, and barriers.

Towards a sustainable circular system of textiles in the Nordics

Was a Nordic research and innovation project funded by Nordic Innovation. The project aimed to develop and test logistics solutions related to collection and sorting. The project ran from 26 August 2020 to 1 December 2022 and involved 24 organizations and companies based in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. VTI was the project leader.

Was a research and innovation project funded by the Swedish Transport Administration. The project aimed to investigate the significance that ports and shipping can have in a future circular economy.
