Infrastructure Maintenance
We must be able to transport ourselves safely and comfortably in both summer and winter. Research in operation and maintenance is about building up knowledge that will form a basis for efficient operation and maintenance measures on both roads, pedestrian footpaths and cycle paths, and railways and tramways.
Our work has several main areas of focus:
- Develop measures and measurement methods to be able to describe and follow up the condition of the pavement
- Investigate the effects of different operating and maintenance measures on the condition of the pavement
- Develop models that describe how the condition of the pavement changes over time under the influence, among the things, of weather, climate and various operational measures
- Carry out studies to describe how road users, the environment and society in general are affected by the condition of the pavement. These studies then form a basis for optimisation of operating and maintenance measures.
