Zahra is currently a PhD student at VTI and Linköping University (Mathematics and statistics). Her PhD topic is in Statistical modeling in roadwork areas. Her research is funded by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).

Zahra's research combines machine learning and statistical modeling to examine repeated measurements of vehicle trajectory, speed, and acceleration under roadwork conditions.

By combining real-time traffic conditions with behavior-based analytics, Zahra is guiding the development of more responsive and safe roadwork zone designs. This research supports better traffic flow, reduced crash potential, and data-driven strategies for coordinating urban and interurban work zones efficiently.

She is interested in how drivers respond to temporary traffic management, dynamic road conditions, and signing – especially using Variable Message Signs (VMS) and other Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

Zahra has a Master of Science – MS. Operations Reseach from Semnan University and a Bachelor of Science - BS, Applied Mathematics from Iran University of Science and Technology.
