Ellen Grumert is the research director for the Traffic Safety and Traffic Systems unit. She has a background in applied mathematics and holds a PhD in traffic analysis with her dissertation Using Connected Vehicles in Variable Speed Limit Systems: : System Design and Effect External link.
Ellen's research focuses on traffic analysis to investigate traffic conditions in both real and simulated traffic environments. She has a particular focus on traffic management and intelligent transportation systems (ITS), as well as on how various data sources can be used to understand how people adapt their behavior to different ITS measures with the aim of proposing improvements regarding traffic safety and traffic efficiency.
