Jia Cheng Xu is a medical engineer with a focus on biomechanics from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Since 2019, Jia Cheng has been a research engineer at VTI, but is currently a doctoral student at the Division of Neuronic Engineering at KTH External link.. Jia Cheng has a broad interest in injury prevention and primarily uses biomechanical tools and injury data to uncover new insights that can contribute to high-quality research.
Jia Cheng's doctoral studies focus on understanding injury mechanisms to the head, hip, and wrist caused by falls. The research tools used include finite element simulations with human body models (HBMs), as well as injury epidemiology and fall experiments with volunteers. The specific traffic safety focus within the doctoral project is to reduce the risk of fall injuries among standing passengers on buses, with a particular emphasis on older adults due to increased fear of falling.
