Stina Larsson is a PhD student at VTI and Linköping University, in the Disability Research Division (FUSA) at the Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning (IBL). Her research area is older people in the transport system, with a focus on older people as pedestrians or users of public transport.

Her doctoral project focuses on investigating whether there are any particular challenges for this group, and if so, what could help them. By studying the group of older people with progressive impairments and diseases, she hopes to gain knowledge about the group of older citizens, but also to produce results that others can benefit from. This could include, for example, people with various types of cognitive or physical impairments.

Stina hopes to contribute to ensuring that the transport system is as inclusive as possible. Participation and inclusion are concepts that are close to her heart. She has a background in social work, a master's degree in health and lifestyle, and has previously worked in both municipal and regional government.

Stina has been involved in the EU project HEIDI, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, as part of her doctoral project, https://heidi-project.eu/ , her focus was on pedestrian interaction with vehicles.

Stina is affiliated with the SWEAH research school, an interdisciplinary research school in ageing and health coordinated by Lund University. The research school supports the development of interdisciplinary research related to ageing in relation to several diagnoses, such as neurodegenerative diseases, heart disease, stroke, mental illness, diabetes and cancer. The research takes into account the needs of older people.
