VTI conducts research and development in the area of pavement technology viewed in a life cycle perspective.
The base is testing and development of material properties for both classic road materials and new innovative materials. The focus is on issues relating to how cost-effectiveness can be increased while taking transport quality, traffic safety and the environment into consideration.
In September 2012 VTI organised the 4th European Pavement and Asset Management Conference (EPAM) in Malmö, Sweden.
