Contribute as test participant?
Within ComCy, we are going to run empirical studies for which we will need participants. This is the preliminary schedule and geographical area. If you are interested, please check back in the future, we’ll keep updating this page.
The situation on rural roads for cyclists
We collect data for about one year, starting in early 2026. We are looking for cyclists who regularly ride on tarmac roads, and we hope to achieve a wide geographical spread across Sweden. For 2-3 weeks, you will borrow a measurement device from us to log how you get overtaken. In the picture, you can see a prototype. You can find detailed instructions on how to handle and operate the device here, and here you can find instructions on how to use a little push button to mark overtakes and, if you want, also oncoming passes while riding.

The goal of this data collection is to get an overview of how cyclists get overtaken on their regular rides. Therefore, just ride as you usually do, except that you bring the device with you. On a personal dashboard, you can see and download the data you collect. There will also be a public site showing aggregated information from all contributors.
For detailed information, please check the participant information sheet pdf, 265.3 kB. (in Swedish). If you are considering participating, you can fill out this questionnaire to provide us with some background information about you. If you match our search criteria, we will get in touch within the next few weeks. Participation is completely voluntary, and you can opt out at any stage in the process.
Young driver education
We offer a course for both newly examined and experienced passenger car drivers to learn more about how to overtake cyclists in a safe and respectful manner, and to understand what difference this makes for cyclists. You will spend 2-3 hours with us on a test track close to Norrköping on the 1st or 2nd of October 2026.
Truck driver education
We develop a module to educate truck drivers with a similar purpose as for passenger car drivers, but adapted for trucks. It has not yet been decided whether we will be looking for participants from the public.
