Road and Railway Engineering

VTI conduct research and development of road structures from a life cycle perspective. The basis is testing and development of material properties for both classic road materials, residual products and new innovative materials.

The unit work on questions about how to dimension with regard to the environment, degradation, economy and execution to achieve the desired function for roads, streets, port areas, airport runways and terminal areas in particular.

The focus is on how to increase cost-efficiency while taking into account transport quality, road safety and the environment.

We also work on assessing how climate and climate change affect infrastructure and measures to reduce the risks of extreme weather.
