VTI Mobile Research Platform, MRP

We're excited to introduce the VTI Mobile Research Platform, MRP! It's a flexible research platform on wheels that measures and collects data on the road surface, the environment, and can scan the surrounding area.

The research platform has lots of different uses. Here are just a few examples of what the vehicle equipment can measure and calculate:

  • Road characteristics and conditions to help with operation and maintenance
  • Road surface measurements according to the Swedish Transport Administration's standard requirements
  • Noise from traffic
  • Particle emissions and air pollution
  • Future climate impacts such as flood risk

The measurement vehicle is mainly used to examine different road surfaces and road areas, but it can also be used in other projects.

The possibilities are endless, and the system is flexible. The only limit is your imagination.

Measurement of road surface

We offer measurements of the condition of the road surface and road area using the VTI Mobile Research Platform and with minimal impact on other traffic. We also carry out road surface measurements in accordance with the Swedish Transport Administration's standards and requirements.

Surrounding scan and digital twins

Using the latest technology in lidar (laser altimetry), we can image the environment around the road and create a digital 3D model of reality – a so-called digital twin. The digital twin can then be used as a basis for visualising different scenarios and, for example, determining the location of traffic lights, crash barriers and more along the road.

We have a wide range of expertise, so don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or specific requests on what challenges our research vehicle could help you with.

The VTI Mobile Research Platform is an advanced and flexible research vehicle that contributes to safer roads and more sustainable transport.
