TrafficLogger registers lateral clearance
We use our TrafficLogger to register the lateral clearance of not only overtaking, but also oncoming vehicles. The latter gives us an idea of the available space for overtaking. On narrow roads this is of course less than on wider roads.
Figure 1 shows the location and clearance of oncoming vehicles on a ca. 6.5 m wide road south of Linköping. Most clearances are around 3 m or above.

Figure 2 shows the clearance for overtaking vehicles on the same road, from the same ride. Generally, the clearances are much smaller, even though space for a comfortable overtake is available. By also registering oncoming vehicles, this is one of many additional analyses that can be made with respect to overtaking.
