Previous conferences
Originally, the focus of the international conference ‘Road Safety on Two Continents’ was on two continents, Europe and North America, with the aim of bringing together researchers in the field of road safety.

Between 1987 and 1999, the conferences were held in Europe but were then expanded to three continents in 2000 when the conference took place in South Africa. A fourth continent, Asia, was added in 2007 when the conference was held in Thailand.
In 2016, the conference was held in Brazil and was then extended to South America. The conference is now known as ‘Road Safety on Five Continents’ – RS5C.
The conference attracts the international research community, national road safety experts, decision-makers, practitioners and other participants with an interest in the development of road safety.
