Simulator technology

VTI's simulator software is based on Open Source and in-house developed code. However, external models and software modules (e.g. commercial vehicle dynamics modules, production code for active safety function etc.) are sometimes integrated. This is normally easy to facilitate because of the fact that we have full acces to all the source code of our simulator software.

Shaping Smart Mobility Futures: Governance and Policy Instruments in times of...

Smart mobility includes automation, shared mobility services and other new forms of mobility made possible by digital technologies. This book argues that smart mobility will only be developed in a desired direction and fulfil global sustainability...

Seeing into the future of mobility: the contestable value of expert knowledge and Delphi...

Mobilities studies discuss the future in numerous ways, but many times only implicitly. The aim of this chapter is to further explicitly link mobilities studies and future studies, which is achieved by introducing the Delphi method and two cases...

Is Governing Capacity Undermined?: Policy Instruments in Smart Mobility Futures

Abstract The aim of this chapter is to analyse how the governing capacity of current policy instruments might be affected in futures of smart mobility. In order to explore this issue, the authors make use of the so-called NATO (nodality, authority,...

Additional policy instruments are needed to achieve Swedish environmental quality objectives for maritime transport

Achieving the national and international environmental objectives for maritime airborne emissions requires a combination of new and more powerful policy instruments. The policies already in place are not enough. This is one of the conclusions of a research...

Opportunities for a new market in electrified regional flight

Large, electrified aircraft is far off in the future. On the other hand, there may be potential for a new market with smaller regional flights. These are the conclusions of a literature survey made by researchers at VTI.

Need for standards as electric road systems are developed

The need for standardisation is increasing as electric road systems are reaching higher levels of maturity. A large part of the standards for intelligent transport systems (ITS) assessed in a new VTI and SIS study was considered potentially useful for...
