Two NEEVE researchers from VTI, Mats Gustafsson and Benjamin Holmberg, attended the Transport and Pollution (TaP 2025) conference, hosted by IFPEN in Paris on 4-6 of November. The conference is a well-established bi-annual event focusing on applied pollution research and was previously known as Transport and air quality, but this year widened the scope to include also transport pollution to other environmental media.

The importance of, and interest, for non-exhaust emissions were manifested by sessions on both tyre and road wear particles as well as on brake wear and a session on railroad particle emissions.

A keynote speech was made on tyre wear emissions by Frédéric Biesse from Michelin, questioning the relevance of the emission factors for tyre wear used in today’s emission models.

Mats Gustafsson made a presentation about abrasion and particle emissions from concrete pavements in relation to asphalt pavements and took the opportunity to inform the audience about the ongoing NEEVE project, in which pavement materials are developed for lower particle emissions.

The NEEVE researchers also had numerous discussions and contacts with other European non-exhaust researchers.
