This conference is the 15th in a series of road safety conferences starting in 1987, at this time with emphasis on two continents, Europe and North America. In 2000 Africa was included, and in 2005 the emphasis was even broader with four continents including Asia. However, even if the emphasis has been on four continents the organisers welcome participation from other continents. In 2005 and 2007 a number of delegates from South America and Australia took part.
The main objective of the conference is to explore emerging research and developments in the area of road safety. Another objective will be towards the application of research and to involve developing countries and countries in transition both as speakers and as delegates.
A special emphasis 2010 will be towards road safety challenges and problems in the region of The United Arab Emirates.
