Acoustics, road traffic noise, vehicle noise, tyre/road noise, road surface characteristics, measurement of road surface characteristics, rolling resistance, splash and spray from vehicles, tyres, low-noise road surfaces.
International assignments
Convener of standardization groups ISO/TC 43/SC 1/WG 27, ISO/TC 43/SC 1/WG 33 and ISO/TC 43/SC 1/WG 39. Member of ISO/TC 43/SC 1/WG 42; as well as of CEN/TC 227/WG 5, TRB/ADC40, and PIARC/C1. Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Dutch R&D programme IPG.
Participation in international work
Regular cooperation with the Techn Univ of Gdansk, Poland, since 1982. Guest researcher for 2 months in USA, 3 months in Australia and 3 months in New Zealand.
